The Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust has taken over the event!\n\n\n\nPresentation:\n\nFirst held in 2010\, the Sitka Seafood Festival is an annual culinary and educational celebration of our local seafood- one of Sitka's most important natural resources. Seafood is the backbone of our economy\, culture\, and lifestyle. For the first time\, the 2017 festival will be hosted by the Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust and the Alaska Longline Fishermen's Association. Together\, these organizations work to ensure the viability of our local\, sustainable fisheries- and this year's festival will celebrate that goal. \n\nKicking off on August 10th\, there will be 20 days of nightly seafood-themed events\, with the main day of events\, food\, and booths held on August 12th at the Crescent Harbor Shelter. On August 12th\, festivities will kick off at 9 AM and run through the evening\, and there will be a vendor market\, games\, and educational events. \n\n Our 20 days of celebration will be followed by educational events and activities taking place each month from August through October. The 2017 Seafood Festival grand finale will come with the Young Fishermen's Expo and Season's End Banquet\, taking place November 8-10th.  \n\nThe festival isn't just a celebration of seafood- it is a chance to learn about the unique ecosystems of Southeast Alaska\, protect our resources\, and celebrate the heritage that sustains our fish and families.
