She received her start in the industry at the former Best Western Barratt Inn as sales manager in her early 20s.  She quickly fell in love with the hotel/hospitality industry and knew it was her lifelong calling.  In 1998\, Carol and her business partner developed the Aspen Hotel chain and then sold it to Extended Stay Hotels in 2005.
