My sponsor was my oldest daughter Katelyn. I have held every club level position except treasurer.  At the District level\, I was zone chair 3 years\, cabinet secretary\, 2VDG\, 1VDG and District Governor.  \n\n I joined Lions because I believe in their commitment to community service and the blind. Like many of you\, I was touched by a personal event that influenced me into becoming a Lion. My youngest daughter\, Kristen\, was born legally blind in one eye\, amblyopia. Dr. Arnold worked a miracle. Within one-year Kristen's eye sight had improved drastically. Today\, at 26 she sees better than I do and rarely needs to wear her one contact\, or glasses.  That was a turning point in my life\, meeting Shirley Littleton (my daughter's sponsor) and her educating me on the Lion's mission.  \n\nI grew in San Antonio\, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1981.  I had an active life with horseback riding\, showing and judging quarter horses. I then moved on to backpacking and snow skiing the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado\, tennis and of course softball.  I received my Associate Degree in Legal Assisting (1978) and a B.A. in Criminal Justice (1981) with a concentration in Court Administration.  My career as a paralegal began in 1978 working in insurance defense litigation\, family law\, personal injury and probate issues. In 2004\, I moved from the private sector to the State of Alaska. I was drawn to the Point Thomson oil debate and the oil issues of our great State. I worked as a Litigation Assistant/Associate Attorney I with the Attorney General's Office\, Dept. of Law\, Oil\, Gas and Mining before retiring in 2009 due to medical issues.\n\n My husband\, Mike and I were married 35 years in August.  He was destined to service of his country in the US Army then later his community as an Anchorage Police Officer. We are blessed with two grown daughters.\n\nSince retiring\, I spend my days in the community attempting to make a better day for those in need.
