This report was commissioned by the City and Borough of Sitka to determine the risk associated with future landslides in the Kramer Drive area. \n\n\n\nBiographies\n\nBill Laprade's Bio:\n\nBill Laprade is a licensed engineering geologist and senior vice president at Shannon & Wilson\, Inc.\, geotechnical and environmental consultants in Seattle.  He has been practicing engineering geology throughout the northwestern United States for 42 years.  His areas of expertise are the interpretation of glacial and nonglacial soils for civil works projects\, and landslide characterization\, investigation\, and remediation.  Bill has evaluated 900 to 1\,000 landslides in his career\; from major cities to remote timberlands.  He co-authored the "Geology of Seattle\, Washington" and was the principal author of the Seattle Landslide Study in 2000\, a landmark in the understanding of landslides in an urban environment.  He has worked on the mapping\, exploration\, and remediation of landslides and other geologic hazards for public jurisdictions and private landowners throughout the western U.S.\n\n\n\nDavid Bruce's Bio\n\nDave's 30 years of litigating in both the public sector and in private practice have allowed him to handle nearly every type of case\, and his 20 years of experience in representing public entities have given him a unique ability to defend government entities and managers against all manner of challenges.  His record of success both in trial and on appeal demonstrates his ability to identify and communicate his client's winning argument.  Dave has extensive experience in the representation of government entities in cases involving damage caused by landslides\, floods\, and storm water management infrastructure.\n\n Before establishing Savitt Bruce & Willey with Jim Savitt in 1999\, Dave served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Seattle\, in the Civil Division\, and before that tried criminal cases as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County.  Dave began his career at Perkins Coie in Seattle.  He is a graduate\, magna cum laude\, of the Cornell Law School. When not in the office\, Dave spends his time making music\, skiing\, traveling\, sailing and reading with Dr. Ann Bruce\, and\, when fate smiles\, with their sons.
