As lead designer of this system from evaluation thru construction and testing\, Andy has significant experience with both the technology and economics of this innovative system. This demonstration project has shown a viable path forward to heating of large buildings without local emissions by tapping the immense heat energy contained in the coastal waters of SE Alaska. This proven technology is now used for cost effective District Heating in Vancouver BC\, Norway\, Sweden\, and the Netherlands. The application of sea water heat pumps powered by low cost and clean hydro in Juneau is very attractive option to consider as an alternative to both heating oil and electric resistance heat.\n\n\n\nBiography\n\nAndy Baker is a registered professional engineer in Alaska and owner of YourCleanEnergy consulting in Anchorage. He has lived and worked in Alaska since 1998. He has significant experience in the financial evaluation and design of solar based renewable energy systems\, and energy efficiency improvements\, for commercial\, and municipal clients. Andy is a graduate in civil engineering from Penn State and he worked previously for Black & Veatch in San Diego and Boston\; and for HDR Alaska. His work with the Alaska SeaLife Center began in 2009 with a financial evaluation of a seawater heat pump system based on systems currently used in Norway and Canada.
