Hilyard\, Executive Director\n\nSoutheast Alaska Guides Organization (SEAGO)\n\nPresentation\n\nAn overview of issues's affecting Alaska's charter industry\n\nThere are several issues facing Alaska's charter industry and this presentation will walk through them at 40\,000 ft level and describe several ways the industry is responding to them.\n\n\n\nBiography\n\nHeath E. Hilyard is currently the Executive Director of the Southeast Alaska Guides Organization (SEAGO) which represents the interests of Southeast Alaska charter fishing operators and lodges and the recreational anglers they serve.  Heath has been with SEAGO just over 3 years. Prior to that\, Mr. Hilyard has been a political professional\, in and out of Alaska\, for nearly 20 years.  Since graduating from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1996 with a degree in Political Science and Communication\, Heath has held a wide variety of positions in and around government and politics.  He has been campaign staff on two presidential campaigns\, professional staff for a state political party\, legislative staff for the Alaska State Legislature and a lobbyist on oil\, gas\, mining and now fishing issues.  \n\nMr. Hilyard is currently the Vice-President for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Alumni Association and serves on the boards of Junior Achievement - Alaska and New Hope on the Last Frontier which is a faith-based non-profit focused on providing employment services for Anchorage's un/under-employed\, substance abuse counseling\, and transitional services for recently released inmates transitioning back into society.  In 2013\, he was selected as one of the "Top 40 under 40" young professionals in Alaska by the Alaska Journal of Commerce.  He is regularly provides commentary on issues regarding Alaska's guided sport-fishing industry to numerous radio stations\, newspapers\, business journals\, and sportsman's magazines.
