Scientists from the state Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys will be talking about their investigations of landslide hazards in the Sitka area. This work includes collecting detailed elevation data (LiDAR) as well as gathering field data for landslide susceptibility and inventory mapping. Scientists will be collecting soil samples, measuring and mapping soil thickness on the slopes above Sitka and its infrastructure.
