Speaker
Eric Brodell, MPH - Western Region Director - Preventing Tobacco Addiction Foundation
Eric joined the Preventing Tobacco Addiction Foundation as a recent graduate from Indiana University’s School of Public Health. He completed his Master of Public Health in Behavioral, Community, and Social Health and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration and Nonprofit Management. Throughout his time at Indiana University, Eric worked with multiple Bloomington community organizations, primarily focusing on improving youth health outcomes in low-income communities. Being an avid cyclist, Eric had the opportunity to move to Portland, OR and work with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance on public health and transportation issues such as Safe Routes to School funding and transportation equity issues of marginalized and underserved communities in East Portland. Since joining PTAF in May of 2016, Eric has been involved in passing multiple tobacco 21 and retail licensing ordinances in Oregon, Arizona, and Colorado. Eric also worked with the Tobacco 21 for Oregon Coalition to help pass Oregon’s statewide tobacco 21 law. In addition to his political work, Eric has given several policy-oriented presentations to statewide and local public health departments and coalitions. Passionate about healthy living and preserving the outdoors for all to enjoy, Eric hopes to continue working in public health, influencing policy change to improve health outcomes for communities throughout the United States.
