Presentation
Sea Water Heat Pumps In Alaska For Downtown District Heating
Clean energy consultant and Professional Engineer Andy Baker of YourCleanEnergy will present on the promising results of the Alaska SeaLife Center sea water heat pumps system that has been operating successfully since 2011. As lead designer of this system from evaluation thru construction and testing, Andy has significant experience with both the technology and economics of this innovative system. This demonstration project has shown a viable path forward to heating of large buildings without local emissions by tapping the immense heat energy contained in the coastal waters of SE Alaska. This proven technology is now used for cost effective District Heating in Vancouver BC, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The application of sea water heat pumps powered by low cost and clean hydro in Juneau is very attractive option to consider as an alternative to both heating oil and electric resistance heat.
